Join Us at the 10th Annual Connections Women's Conference Next Week

Connections CrowdOn Tuesday, October 27, Women's Network for Entrepreneurial Training (WNET) and SUNY Oswego's Office of Business and Community Relations (OBCR), will gather women from across New York State for Connections, a day-long conference to be held at the Lake Ontario Event & Conference Center in Oswego from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This day-long symposium is something you won't want to miss. Women employees and business owners need inspiration, ideas, information, and other women to network with. The theme for this year's event is "Achieve — Inspire — Embrace Excellence" and will feature Dorothy Biggs, district sales manager for Viega, "Paving the Way in a Non-traditional Field;" Melinda Miles, production executive for Film at Eleven and principal at Manifest, "Faith and Tattoos — Living on Purpose;" Ellen LaBerge, general counsel for C&S Companies, "So how did a nice English major like me end up here?," and; Sandy Sadly, senior principle business analyst for Epicor Software, "Getting Inspired in the 9th Inning." Following lunch, our speakers will participate in a panel Q&A.

"Moving Women to Power" is not only the Connections tagline, it's also the number one goal of every Connections conference. That is why Connections created the "Woman of Power" award. This award will be presented to a woman whose civic and community service goes beyond "normal" responsibilities, creating a lasting and beneficial impact on the community. Our finalists are Jennifer Cook, chief of staff for Assemblyman Barclay; Dr. Leia Lindley, DVM; Kristen Shanley, attorney at law; and Lisa Yesensky, owner of The Greenhouse Effect. Join us as we honor these powerful women and find out who will be named the Woman of Power for 2015.

Again this year, headshots will be offered by Dayger Photography, with no sitting fee. Free hair and make-up touch-ups will also be available.

Also returning this year is Bee-Hive Networking, a business building activity that allows you to find exactly what you are looking for in a very short period of time. There are no elevator speeches, no selling, and no fears or discomforts. Each attendee could walk away with an average of 12-20 cards of QUALIFIED prospects who want to meet them. Come "catch the buzz" with Bee-Hive Networking. Please be sure to come armed with 100 business cards.

Sponsors include SUNY Oswego's Office of Business and Community Relations (OBCR), Women's Network for Entrepreneurial Training (WNET), Operation Oswego County, the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center (LOECC), Mitchell's Speedway Press, AXA Advisors, Bosco & Geers Food Market and Chirello Advertising.

Registration and tickets for Connections are available through Operation Oswego County at www.oswegocounty.org/Connections/tickets.html.
