"Powerful Communication for Women" to be Presented at April WNET Meeting

http://www.oswegocounty.org/news%20archives/14/ChrisAllen.jpgAs women, we are often unaware of nuances of our communication that undermine our power. We often use qualifiers such as "just" or "actually", we raise our voices at the end of a statement implying that we are unsure, and we ask questions such as "Does that make sense?" We give more credit to others, especially men, because we are team players.

Dr. Christine Allen will share some important ways that many women speak, talk and interact which limit their power and effectiveness at the next Women's Network for Entrepreneurial Training's (WNET) monthly breakfast meeting, Thursday, April 3rd, 8 a.m. at the SUNY Oswego Phoenix Center in the Oswego County Industrial Park, Phoenix (exit 14, State Route 481). In this workshop, Dr. Allen will give you some specific strategies to communicate powerfully despite these external constraints and some of our own internal barriers.

Dr. Allen started her coaching business, Chris Allen Coaching, in 2008. She has since expanded her executive coaching work into a company called Insight Business Works which focuses on the people-side of business. She has special expertise in improving communication, leadership development, and team building, as well as in helping women succeed in getting a "seat at the table" in the work world. Dr. Allen is a licensed psychologist, Board Certified Coach, Member of the International Coach Federation, a Certified Life Coach through the Institute of Life Coach Training, a Certified MBTI™ Practitioner, and a Certified PeopleMap™ Trainer. Dr. Allen is passionate about working toward growth, development and change on both individual and organizational levels and is very excited to share important research from the field of positive psychology that can help you and your company maximize your success.

Through networking, presentations and information sharing, WNET provides professional development and personal growth for women in business.

The cost for each seminar is $12 for members and $15 for non-members. The WNET annual (Sept. 2012-Aug.2013) membership cost is $25. Each seminar includes a light breakfast.

WNET is supported locally by Operation Oswego County, SUNY Oswego Phoenix Center, NBT Bank, BeautiControl, By Detail and The Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce.
