Feb. 25, 2009: Local Businesses,
Community Members Support Economic Development
By L. Michael Treadwell, CEcD, Executive Director, Operation
Oswego County
During 2008, Operation Oswego County (OOC)
helped to provide financial assistance for projects that when fully
implemented, will invest over $120 million in Oswego County, and
will create and/or retain more than 800 jobs. This success would
not have been possible without the partnership of the business sector
through our annual fund drive campaign.
Each year, OOC asks local business to invest
in the future of Oswego County and help us continue to provide critical
economic development services to our community by contributing to
the fund drive. The annual appeal to business and industry supporters
and others throughout the county for financial support has provided
OOC with supplemental promotional funding in recent years.
I commend the efforts of OOC’s Marketing
and Development Committee members who plan and implement the fund
drive each year. Those members include Chairman Michael Pollock,
Fulton Savings Bank; Vice Chairman Jonathan Daniels, Port of Oswego
Authority; Barbara Bateman, Alliance Bank; Ron Darrow; Kerry Dorsey,
SUNY Oswego; Ann Gilpin, Oswego Health; Daniel Murphy, National
Grid; Joseph Solazzo, Laborer’s International Union, Local
214; Gary Toth, Carpenter's Local 747; and David Turner, Oswego
County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning.
