| July 6, 2007: Operation
Oswego County’s Marketing Materials Receive State and Local
Recognition
Operation Oswego County (OOC), Oswego County’s designated
economic development agency, was recently recognized for its electronic
newsletter and print newsletter by the New York State Economic Development
Council’s (NYSEDC) 2007 marketing and promotional materials
award competition.
OOC’s electronic newsletter, “OOC E-News,” was
developed as a monthly supplement to its printed newsletter, “Economic
Development Outlook,” which is produced on a quarterly basis.
The intent was to deliver a quick, easy-to-read synopsis of new
and ongoing projects directly to the e-mail boxes of OOC’s
key stakeholders which would also contain clickable links to OOC’s
website for more information.
“We feel that the benefits are two-fold in creating ‘OOC
E-news’ in that not only are we able to report important information
about economic development activity to our constituents on a regular
basis, we have also created a specific tool to enhance the marketing
of our award-winning website to help bring attention the resources
and assets of our county that would offer value to a potential business
customer,” said L. Michael Treadwell, CEcD, OOC executive
director.
OOC’s printed newsletter, “Economic Development Outlook,”
has a quarterly distribution of more than 800, and features regular
business development updates and information as well as information
about grants, training and other financial assistance opportunities.
The recognitions are awarded each year to NYSEDC member organizations
throughout New York State who produce printed materials and Internet
media to promote economic development in their areas. OOC has won
several awards in past years for the effectiveness and quality of
its advertising and promotional materials from NYSEDC and other
regional and national professional development organizations.
OOC was also recently awarded “Best Print Ad” for its
advertisement titled “The Logistics-Friendly County”
from the Professional Journalists and Communicators of Oswego County’s
annual Golden Quotes awards. The nationally-distributed advertisement
was created in conjunction with Steve Chirello Advertising to highlight
Oswego County’s transportation accessibility.
