Minetto Slated as Next Site for Stewart’s Shops
“Minetto could be the next town in New York to get a Stewart's
Shop,” said Stewart’s Shops real estate representative
Tom Lewis. For more than a year, Minetto Town Supervisor Dan Capella
and L. Michael Treadwell, executive director of Operation Oswego
County, have been encouraging Stewart’s to locate in Minetto,
according to Lewis.
Last week Lewis signed a contract to purchase the former DuBois
Inn property, owned by Matthew Dawson, on the corner of state Route
48 and Benson Avenue, contingent upon approvals from the municipality.
“Stewart’s currently has 322 convenience shops in eastern
New York and western Vermont that supply fresh dairy products, great-tasting
ice cream, hot foods to go and much more,” Lewis said. “Our
comfortable and friendly atmosphere makes Stewart’s Shops
a great place to shop and work.”
The company hopes to file conceptual plans in early April to be
decided upon by the Minetto Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals.
If approved by both boards, Stewart’s must then appear before
the town board.
“If Stewart’s gets all the necessary approvals, it’s
our hope to start construction in early July,” Lewis added.
