Jan. 4, 2007: 24/7 Fitness Center
Opens in Phoenix
PHOENIX, NY—New Image
Fitness Whenever, a 24-hour, 4,000 square foot fitness center located
in the Three Rivers Plaza in Phoenix, celebrated its grand opening
with a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday, Jan. 4.
The new fitness center is accessible by members at any hour of any
day, everyday of the year (including holidays) and features state-of-the-art
cardio and weight training equipment including treadmills, exercise
bikes, elliptical machines, and other amenities such as personal
training and Fitness Cinema Entertainment, personal televisions
stationed on cardio equipment.
Owners Carin and Lee Roberts stressed the
safety of their members as their first priority.
“In order to obtain access to the facility
during times when the facility is not staffed, our members are issued
bar-coded cards, called ‘keytags,’ that they have to
swipe to enter the building. There are surveillance cameras throughout
the facility, patrons can wear panic necklaces and we keep the building
well lit and locked at all times,” said Carin Roberts. “Also
extremely important to us is making sure that our members have a
clean, comfortable atmosphere to work out in.”
Fitness Whenever is the couple’s second
24/7 workout facility in Oswego County. New Image Health and Fitness
is located on state Route 48 in Fulton and boasts more than 300
members. The couple also operates Spectrum Fitness Services, a business
that focuses on sales and repair of fitness equipment and the conversion
or establishment of fitness centers, such as the facility in Phoenix,
to 24/7 systems.
Membership to both fitness centers is open
to ages 15 and older (15-18-year-olds must be accompanied by a guardian)
and membership costs vary depending on duration of membership and
household situation. The owners anticipate that online membership
renewals will be available in the near future.
“We’re looking forward to getting
to know the community of the greater Phoenix area. We really try
to bring a community feel to our clubs by creating opportunities
for our members to get to know one another,” said Carin Roberts.
“Because we take such pride in our facilities, we find that
our members in turn really take ownership of the place that they
work out in and the effect this has is that they help to keep the
facility clean, in working order and very welcoming.”
The $110,000 project is expected to create
six jobs. Funding assistance was provided by the County of Oswego
Industrial Development Agency (IDA).
“New Image Fitness Whenever is a creative
concept to meet the needs of a busy, yet health-conscious population.
Operation Oswego County and the IDA were pleased to help bring this
welcome addition to the local business community in Phoenix,”
said L. Michael Treadwell, CEcD, executive director of Operation
Oswego County, a private, non-profit organization working to enhance
and protect the economic climate of Oswego County. “We look
forward to their continued growth and success in Oswego County.”
