2006: “Writing an Effective Press Release” Presented
at October WNET Meeting
Tim Nekritz, associate public affairs
director for SUNY Oswego, will present “Writing an Effective
Press Release” at the next Women’s Network for Entrepreneurial
Training (WNET) monthly breakfast meeting Thursday, Oct. 5, 8 a.m.
at the SUNY Oswego Institute for Professional and Organizational
Development in the Oswego County Industrial Park, Phoenix (exit
14, state Route 481). Aunt Mary’s Italian Cookies and Catering
will provide breakfast.
In addition to his position in the
public affairs department, Nekritz is also an adjunct professor
of communication studies at SUNY Oswego. He is the author of "The
Oswego Public Library: A History," which chronicled the state's
longest-operating library and helped raise funds for the historic
building's current renovations. An active volunteer with a keen
interest in the community, he previously worked as the city editor
at The Palladium-Times and as public relations and marketing director
for Harborfest. He teaches Media Copywriting on the college level
and is preparing to introduce a course on sports journalism in the
spring.
The remainder of WNET’s fall
schedule is as follows:
Nov. 9: “Sensible Ways to Stay
on Top of Your Business Taxes” by Meg Bullis, Cornell Cooperative
Extension of Oswego County; and
Dec. 7: “On the Spot—Tips
for Effective Public Speaking” by Pamela Caraccioli, adjunct
professor with the Communication Studies department at SUNY Oswego.
WNET is part of a nationwide roundtable
for women business owners, sponsored by the U.S. Small Business
Administration (SBA). Through networking, presentations and information
sharing, WNET provides professional development and personal growth
for women business owners.
