May 24, 2006: “Cyber Safety” for Small Business to be Presented at June WNET Meeting

Ed Schaperjahn, owner, HELP! Small Business Solutions, will present “Cyber Safety” at the next Women’s Network for Entrepreneurial Training (WNET) monthly breakfast meeting Thursday, June 1, 8 a.m. at the SUNY Oswego Institute for Professional and Organizational Development in the Oswego County Industrial Park, Phoenix (exit 14, state Route 481). Aunt Mary’s Italian Cookies and Catering will provide breakfast.

HELP! Small Business Solutions was founded by Schaperjahn in 1998 to address the needs of small businesses seeking to advance their business through the use of technology. According to Schaperjahn, “the majority of small businesses today do not have a dedicated IT staff they can rely on to plan for future growth of the company and maintain their current technology investments.”

The company assists businesses by providing outsourced maintenance support, strategic and product-based planning and installation, and training for point product and system solutions. Shortly after he started his business, Schaperjahn noted an increase in malicious software being distributed on the Internet adversely affecting his client’s computers. Since then, the number of incidents being repaired has increased exponentially.

“I believe that using a broad approach to defending business assets are essential and I work with small businesses to mitigate these threats,” said Schaperahn.

The meeting is open to the public. A registration fee of $10 for members and $12 for non-members covers the cost of the program and a full breakfast. WNET annual membership is $10. Contact Operation Oswego County at 343-1545 to reserve your seat.

WNET is part of a nationwide roundtable for women business owners, sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Through networking, presentations and information sharing, WNET provides professional development and personal growth for women business owners.

WNET is supported locally by Operation Oswego County, SUNY Oswego Institute for Professional and Organizational Development, SUNY Oswego’s Center for Business and Community Development, BeautiControl, Jody Frawley Advertising and Promotion, Oliver B. Paine Greenhouses, Oswego Community Development Office and the SBA.
