June 1, 2005: Operation Oswego County Wins Statewide Awards

Operation Oswego County (OOC) was recently recognized with three awards for New York State Economic Development Council’s (NYSEDC) 2005 marketing and promotional materials award competition.

OOC’s print advertisement for the “Power for Progress” low-cost electrical energy program for new and expanding businesses in Oswego County was awarded NYSEDC’s top honor of “best in class.” The ad was created by OOC and Steve Chirello Advertising to attract new business and create jobs using low-cost power produced by Entergy Nuclear Northeast at the James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant in Scriba.

Also honored with “Certificate of Excellence” was OOC’s website www.oswegocounty.org. The website offers visitors a comprehensive listing of available commercial property, demographic information about Oswego County, downloadable publications, current news and information about OOC’s economic development services, community links and a printable map.

For its brochure titled “Here, Turnover is a Good Thing,” OOC was awarded an honorable mention. The publication was designed by Steve Chirello Advertising to showcase OOC’s two small business incubator facilities, the Start-up Facility (SUF) in the Oswego County Industrial Park in Phoenix, and the Oswego County Business Expansion Center (BEC) in the city of Oswego.

The recognitions are awarded each year to NYSEDC member organizations throughout New York State who produce printed materials and Internet media to promote economic development in their areas. The award competition review panel included Rob Duchow of Mohawk Valley EDGE, Rob Conrad of Mark Russell and Associates, Michele Desrosiers of Eric Mower & Associates and Todd Lang of Development Counsellors International.

OOC has won several awards in past years for the effectiveness and quality of its advertising and promotional materials from NYSEDC and other regional and national professional development organizations.

“The NYSEDC marketing and promotional materials award competition recognizes the best and most effective publications in the economic development field. We are proud that our marketing materials have met the test of our economic development colleagues from throughout New York State,” said L. Michael Treadwell, CEcD, executive director of OOC.
