| Oct. 13, 2004: Operation Oswego
County Wins Website Award
OSWEGO, NY-- The Northeastern Economic Developers
Association (NEDA) recently recognized Operation Oswego County (OOC)
with an award of excellence for its economic development website
www.oswegocounty.org.
The recognitions are awarded each year to economic development
organizations throughout the northeastern United States who produce
printed materials and Internet media to promote economic development
in their areas. OOC has won several awards in past years for the
effectiveness of its promotional materials from NEDA and other regional
and national professional development organizations. Entries are
judged by a panel of experienced economic development and marketing
professionals and are determined based on design and layout, clarity
of message, quality, functionality and overall creativity and impact.
The agency’s website offers visitors a comprehensive listing
of available commercial property, demographic information about
Oswego County, downloadable publications, current news and information
about OOC’s economic development services, community links
and a printable map. The website receives an average of more than
2,000 visits per month.
“As the usage of the internet as a preliminary site selection
tool intensifies, our website has become critical to draw in corporate
real estate decision makers in order to recruit new businesses and
add new and better job opportunities in Oswego County,” said
L. Michael Treadwell, CEcD, executive director of OOC, Oswego County’s
designated economic development agency.
“More and more site selection consultants, business decision
makers, and individuals rely on the internet to decide where they
will invest. We designed our website to effectively convey critical
and up-to-date information about Oswego County to this captive audience.”
“The NEDA Literature and Promotion Awards recognize the best
and most effective publications in the economic development field.
We are proud that our marketing materials have met the test of our
economic development colleagues from throughout the northeastern
United States,” Treadwell said.
In addition to Internet marketing, OOC aggressively promotes Oswego
County’s economic development opportunities by directly targeting
prospects through various national, international and regional trade
publications and by participating in exhibitions and industry-specific
tradeshows.
