Sept. 30, 2003: Committees
Appointed to Deal with Proposed Nestle Property Transfer
County of Oswego Industrial
Development Agency (IDA) Chairwoman Carolyn Rush announced today
the appointment of two committees formed in response to the proposed
transfer of the vacant Nestle plant in Fulton from Nestle USA to
the IDA.
IDA board members and local
and state officials met yesterday in Fulton to discuss the terms
and conditions of the transaction proposed by Nestle as well as
the impact the property transfer could have on negotiations with
potential investors for the facility.
The committees are as follows:
- Property Committee: Formed to negotiate
the terms and conditions of the proposed property transfer with
Nestle USA.
Members include: Don Kunzwiler, IDA board
member; L. Michael Treadwell, CEcD, executive director of Operation
Oswego County and IDA board member; Carolyn Rush; Chairman of the
Oswego County Legislature Morris Sorbello, IDA board member; and
City of Fulton Mayor Michael Stafford.
- Investor Committee: Formed to work with
the two potential investor groups that are currently negotiating
agreements to manufacture chocolate at the former Fulton plant.
Members include: Stephen Lyman, Oswego County
Administrator; Treadwell; Thomas Gillson, regional director for
Empire State Development; City of Fulton School District Superintendent
Michael Egan; and Dee Heckethorn, IDA vice-chairman.
“By forming these two committees and
with the assistance of our federal, state and local elected officials
and community partners, we hope to facilitate an agreement that
is ultimately beneficial to the Fulton community and brings much
needed jobs back to the area,” Rush said.
